Hello Milestone Community!
We have 2 important updates we want to share with you today…
PASTOR SEARCH UPDATE
First, we want to provide you with an update on the result of our second pastor search. We want to thank you for your continued patience and faithful prayers throughout this important process.
In May 2024, a Pastor Search Team was commissioned to find a Lead Pastor. There was one promising candidate, who was offered and accepted the position in March of 2025, and later turned it down.
In July 2025, we resumed our pastor search.
On October 31, 2025, the job posting closed and after much deliberation and prayerful consideration, the Pastor Search Team did not find a suitable candidate who aligned with Milestone’s mission, vision, and beliefs. Therefore, the decision was made by the Pastor Search Team and affirmed by the Leadership Team, not to move forward with a candidate from this specific round of searching.

MILESTONE ANNOUNCEMENT

Secondly, our Leadership Team has been actively involved in extensive discussions, earnest prayer and thorough discernment regarding the future of Milestone and where God is leading us.
As a result, we have made the prayerfully discerned decision to end this chapter and close down Milestone Church as a charitable corporation.
We believe that taking this step is an act of good stewardship, leaving a legacy while embracing God's unfolding plan for us. Although Milestone is closing, there is still a purpose for each of us to fulfill individually, which includes sharing the abundant life that Jesus offers to all of us. God's story isn't ending here; He is inviting us into renewed faithfulness, directing each of our abilities toward new ministries, and encouraging all of us to embody Christ's love and service in our everyday lives in a new way and in a new church context.
As we approach this closure, we seek strength, peace, and guidance through prayer, and we look forward to discovering new opportunities to serve God within the Guelph community.
Next Steps for the Milestone Community:
Joining Other Church Congregations: We encourage each of you to consider joining nearby church congregations where your faith can continue to grow.
It is the leadership’s goal is to support and guide you in finding a new church community where you can continue to worship, strengthen your faith, and actively serve others. To that end, we have taken the time to carefully identify and connect with local churches that align with Milestone's mission, vision, and values. After thorough consideration, the Milestone Church leadership would like to recommend Grace Community Church on Marden Road as a potential faith community for you to consider.
Grace Community Church is a church that is deeply committed to similar values and initiatives and is actively making a difference in the Guelph community. We have spoken with the Grace Community Church leadership and they have advised they would warmly welcome individuals and families from the Milestone Church community into their church community.
We encourage you to visit their services, meet their pastors and congregation, and pray about where God is calling you next.
Next Steps: In accordance with our articles of incorporation, and to be faithful stewards in accordance with Canadian law requirements, we will be transferring our remaining assets to other registered charities with similar charitable purposes and a similar statement of faith before we apply to voluntarily revoke our charitable status with Canada Revenue Agency, then apply to dissolve as a not-for-profit corporation under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act. We will be working with our charity lawyers and accountants to complete the necessary steps in the upcoming months.
As a matter of transparency with the Milestone Church Supporters, we will be sharing in the upcoming weeks the names of the registered charities which we plan to gift our assets to. While it is not legally required to have the Supporters vote on which charities will receive the assets of Milestone Church (because the only voting members are also elders as set out in the Church’s By-law No. 1), the leadership would like to gather consensus from the Supporters as much as possible to affirm the Supporters are in agreement with the intended recipients. We will therefore be taking a non-binding affirmation vote after our service on February 15.
Final Service: As we close, we want everyone in the Milestone community to have the opportunity to gather and celebrate all that God has done with us and through us. We invite you to join us for our final service on March 15, 2026.
Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone on our Leadership Team or email us at milestonechurchguelph@gmail.com.
With heartfelt gratitude and hope,
The Leadership Team of Milestone Church
